Being Thankful: The History of Thanksgiving

You don't have to love turkey to love Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving started when life in the new American colonies was dangerous and difficult. Thanksgiving wasn't a feast. It was a day to stop, reflect and be intentionally grateful for the mere act of survival.

Taking a moment to be intentionally grateful is a good practice to develop. When counting your blessings, take a moment to be proud of what you have accomplished this semester. Maybe you wrote a great paper or aced an exam. Maybe you showed up every single day and kept trying your best. Whatever it is, be grateful.

CredoReference offers this short history of Thanksgiving. Enjoy!
